They offered to play our first dance song live since it was a track they loved, and they did such an amazing job of translating a complex orchestral arrangement into sounds by a 3-person band. It was so, so beautiful. And they seemed just as excited themselves by the challenge of learning and playing this new song perfectly, as we were to ...”“This band were so incredibly accommodating from the start. They offered to play our first dance song live since it was a track they loved, and they did such an amazing job of translating a complex orchestral arrangement into sounds by a 3-person band. It was so, so beautiful. And they seemed just as excited themselves by the challenge of learning and playing this new song perfectly, as we were to have them play it for us. Then once the real sets began, it continued to feel unreal. This was unlike the wedding bands we'd come across at weddings previously. The atmosphere was on fire, people who would normally self-consciously avoid the dancefloor were up and jumping around - the passion behind the music was palpable and it allowed everyone to completely lose themselves in the moment to the music. The set list was perfect - a mix of lively rock and pop hits. Exactly the kinds of things we would have listened to with our friends growing up, plus some excellent renditions of party pop songs. Everyone was smiling, laughing, moving, and completely vibing with what the band were giving out. During a DJ'd segment, the band even played some classic songs (very much not on the regular setlist) for my husband's grandparents to waltz to - they really appreciated this gesture, and as they waltzed, eventually a ballroom full of guests gathered very teary eyed to watch their really moving and serendipitous dance. It was a highlight for so many of us - thank you for facilitating this. Retrospect could have played for 10 hours and our guests would have lapped up every moment. Every time the band came on for a new set, everyone rushed back to the dancefloor. There was never any need to encourage guests to give the band some support. They then did at least two encores after guests kept chanting for more! And they finished by taking pictures with us all and chatting with us as they continued to play PA music and pack up their equipment. Thank you Retrospect for such a magical night - we all had the perfect time in your company. Your energy and your talent is sky high, and we're so so glad that we booked you to shape the evening of our wedding. Although he should've also reminded the band as well!
