Simcha Klezmer Trio are a three-piece Klezmer ensemble exploring the traditional music of Ashkenazi Jewish culture as well as other contemporary pieces.
Bringing together three of the UK’s leading Klezmer musicians, their interpretation and arrangement of old repertoire sees their music speak, sing and dance with the tradition’s distinct Yiddish accent and vocabulary.
As standard, Simcha Klezmer Trio perform with, clarinet, accordion, and double bass OR percussion. Alternatively (and depending upon availability), Simcha Klezmer Trio regularly collaborates with one of the UK’s finest Roma musicians – Cimbalom virtuoso Janos Kallai. Togther they explore commonalities between Roma and Klezmer music and insight into how Klezmer music would have sounded in the past when Cimbalom was still a key instrument in this music.
