Schwood Sax

Schwood Sax is an accomplished saxophonist whose musical journey began at the age of three with the piano. By 13, the saxophone had become the instrument of choice, and by 18, Grade 8 exams in both instruments were completed with high distinction through the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.

At 17, a place was earned at the prestigious Chetham’s School of Music, where both jazz and classical styles were studied in depth. During this time, Schwood Sax performed with jazz legends such as Johnny Dankworth and Peter King, gaining invaluable experience and mentorship.

Further studies took place at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA), founded by Paul McCartney, with a focus on jazz. Under the tutelage of renowned saxophonist Ian Dixon—known for his work with Michael Brecker and Sting—technical skill and performance artistry were elevated to a professional level.

Now a full-time session musician, Schwood Sax performs across the UK and internationally. From luxury weddings to high-profile corporate events, club nights, and private parties, performances range from function bands to high-energy DJ live sets. Known for blending live sax with dance music, Schwood Sax brings a unique and unforgettable experience to every stage.

Regular appearances include some of London’s most exclusive venues, such as The Arts Club in Mayfair, frequented by celebrities like David Beckham, Graham Norton, and Nicole Scherzinger. Schwood Sax is also the resident saxophonist for football icon Steven Gerrard, performing at his private events in Liverpool and Portugal for over five years.
